 NC Science Network names new leader




  Hands On! Museum Executive Director Joseph Knight was informed this week that he has another job title, and he's ready to take on that role with the same passion he has for his children's museum in downtown Hendersonville. The North Carolina Science Network — a statewide partnership of science museums, children's museums, nature and wildlife centers, botanical gardens and other institutions — recently announced Knight as the new board chairman and president for the 2023-24 term. Applications open for international competition 

Applications for the annual International Science Challenge for high school STEM students are currently open through Jan. 29. Finalists are selected in March, winners are announced in early April, and NCISC programs and activities will commence in the late spring or early summer.

Students@Work is a project of the North Carolina Business Committee for Education in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Each week in March different industries are focused to create career awareness for middle school students. Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will host its first Science for All Summit on April 5-6 at the Friday Conference Center in Chapel Hill. The summit will address access issues and strategies for STEM engagement from early education to career by bringing together leading experts and thought leaders to discuss the latest in advocacy, policy, practice, and research.
