NCISC 2023
International Science Challenge now open for NC students
|

|
|
|
|
Applications are now open for the 2023 NC International Science Challenge. Offered jointly by the NC Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education Center (SMT Center) and the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, the NCISC is an annual science competition for high school students who wish to complete either a STEM research project or a Maker project. Those students selected by a panel of judges this spring will be invited to participate in behind-the-scenes experiences at prestigious museums in Washington, D.C., as well as join in special enrichment opportunities with leading scientific organizations. NCShare Network aims to boost STEM in NC
|
|
Davidson College, Duke University and North Carolina Central University (NCCU), in collaboration with MCNC, have received $1.4 million from the National Science Foundation to create the North Carolina Shared Research & Education collaborative infrastructure (NCShare) to provide high-speed research network capacity and computing to boost STEM education to at least eight minority-serving, smaller, or mid-sized institutions of higher education throughout North Carolina.

NC Regional Teachers of the Year
|
|
Nine teachers from across North Carolina have been selected as the state’s regional Teachers of the Year for their dedication, innovation and ability to inspire students to achieve. These accomplished educators will now compete for the title of 2023 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year to be announced in April.

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will host its first Science for All Summit on April 5-6 at the Friday Conference Center in Chapel Hill. The summit will address access issues and strategies for STEM engagement from early education to career by bringing together leading experts and thought leaders to discuss the latest in advocacy, policy, practice, and research.
