New national study paints unfavorable picture of rural education in North Carolina ↴
NREA releases 'Why Rural Matters' report for 2023
The National Rural Education Association has released Why Rural Matters 2023 — the 10th in a series of reports analyzing the contexts and conditions of rural education in each of the 50 states and calling attention to the need for policymakers and others to address rural education issues in their respective states. North Carolina is the 10th highest priority state when it comes to rural education, according to this latest study, citing data on enrollment, population, diversity, policy, outcomes and access to support for learning and development. STEMwork Sprint bridges industry and classrooms
STEMwork Sprint is an innovative online course that supports K-12 educators in establishing and sustaining education/industry partnerships with local STEM employers. The Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership at NC State University developed the STEMwork program to address the need to build connections between education and industry. STEMwork Sprint takes the program to the next level online to give teachers a practical framework for integrating industry partnerships into their classrooms.
