2024 SMT Awards recognize year's best in STEM
The N.C. Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Center (SMT Center) annually offers awards that recognize individuals and organizations whose extraordinary contributions to science, mathematics, and technology education in North Carolina are helping to advance the mission of the SMT Center. Nominations are accepted each fall. Recipients of the awards were honored this month at the Celebration of Science, Mathematics, and Technology.
The 2024 recipients are:
• Partnership Award - Center for Energy Education. Watch Video

• Outstanding Instructional Leader - Susan Miller-Hendrix, Robeson County. Watch Video
• Outstanding 9-16 Educator - Kayla Varnell, Lenoir County Schools. Watch Video

G-Force Robotics from Clayton continues to inspire girls in STEM ↴
NC robotics team wins big at FIRST World Championships
G-Force Robotics, based in Clayton, recently won the 2024 FIRST Robotics World Championship Engineering Inspiration Award in Houston, Texas. This all-girls robotics team out of Johnston County is now guaranteed a spot at the 2025 world competition! → Full Story |

BWF Student STEM Enrichment Program deadline approaching on June 11 ↴
Burroughs Wellcome Fund accepting SSEP grant applications
The Student STEM Enrichment Program (SSEP) supports diverse programs that enable North Carolina primary and secondary students to participate in creative STEM activities. These awards provide up to $60,000 per year for three years. Since the program's inception in 1996, BWF has awarded 288 grants totaling $43.3 million to 136 organizations that reach more than 43,000 North Carolina students.
