Jennette's Pier on the Outer Banks is a Wave Energy Test Center
The Outer Banks Pro Surfing Competition was happening last week in Nags Head. For those who might have attended or watched the live stream, you might have noticed a big boat just off Jennette's Pier. A team of divers and crew from the Coastal Studies Institute (CSI) were working to remove a 4,000-pound chain pile that served as a mooring for renewable ocean energy devices. The shallow water site, known as the Jennette's Pier Wave Energy Center, is the result of a partnership between the pier and CSI, which is managed by the North Carolina Renewable Ocean Energy Program. → Learn more about this unique test center
