NCDPI continues national tradition of recognizing schools excelling in academic success ↴
Four NC schools receive State Blue Ribbon recognition
Four North Carolina public schools were honored this week as inaugural statewide Blue Ribbon Schools award winners, a program created by N.C. Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) to continue the tradition of recognizing and highlighting schools that are excelling in academic success. North Carolina’s inaugural recipients were nominated based on 2023-24 accountability results. The honorees include: Apex Friendship Middle School (Wake County Public Schools), Henderson County Early College (Henderson County Public Schools), Mills Park Middle School (Wake County Public Schools), and Pinehurst Elementary (Moore County Schools). In light of the termination of the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Program, this new state-wide program continues the tradition of honoring and celebrating the top performing schools. New funding to rebuild and repair broadband infrastructure destroyed by Hurricane Helene ↴
Western NC gets $50M to rebuild high-speed internet
North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein announced this week a $50 million Broadband Recovery Program that will provide grants to help rebuild and repair broadband infrastructure destroyed by Hurricane Helene. Impacted internet service providers can apply for funding by Nov. 24. → Full story

The National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) is accepting applications for its 2025–2026 Awards Program. NSTA Awards honor K–12 educators for their outstanding work and achievement in science and STEM education. In addition to receiving cash and prizes, all awardees will be formally recognized during the NSTA National Conference on Science Education in Anaheim, Calif., on April 15-18, 2026.
